This fantastic new tool is used to give realism to the copper finish on the hull of any ship model. It allows the modeler to mark on the tape the heads of the nails with which the copper plates were nailed to the hull in the past.
The commented way of working the hulls below their waterline began in the mid-18th century to prevent mollusks and other marine animals from attaching themselves to the hull , since they cause a serious problem such as reduced browsing speed.

Over the Years, I have purchased many Ship Modelling tools, quite a few of these, have not been fit for purpose.
I received this tool from Franklin Hobbies a couple of days ago. A little "Fiddly" to assemble but went together no problem.
Tested on 5.0mm X 0.1mmCopper tape, first with a little Jig to try and keep everything in line.
I discarded the Jig and went Free Hand with much better results.
I am still practicing to obtain the "Perfect" set of Copper Plates, how much pressure to apply, etc.
Important note: Remove all PE Tabs with a Diamond File or similar, Esp, with regards to the Disc Locking PE Parts.

Photo attached illustrates my first couple of "Passes" with the Tool.
If you require reasonably priced Copper Hull Plating, the results with this device after a little practice, will be well worth the effort.
